When Krypton 88 was Rockabilly

Rock ‘n’ Roll Walkin’ Papers

•••BEGIN TRANSMISSION from bigMike 10•17•2010 •••
Well I got my rock ‘n’ roll walking papers today, and since this letter was deleted from the face book page I will post it here on the website. After 15 years of slappin’ the big bull fiddle for the rockabilly band Krypton 88 this is where I get off this train. Where this train is headed I don’t really care to go anyway, and I should have stepped off the train and onto the platform a couple of stops ago. So to all of our fans that have supported us all these years I say thanks and I’ll miss you all. Special thanks go out to Frantic Frank, Ernie O, Too Tall Paul, Mike Graham, and Ron Wolfe for inspiring me to grab hold of the bull fiddle and begin my ride. Also special thanks to all of the Krypton 88 band members that got off the train before me: Otto Hauser (drums), Joe Hendrick (guitar vocals), Chris Thomas (guitar), Ernie Orlando (drums), Fran DiNardo (drums), Jason Smay (Drums), Ron Wolfe (drums vocals), Joey Cintorino (drums vocals), Joey Marinaro (drums), Dana Gregory ( drums vocals). Big thanks to the guys from the Villains for believing in me enough to ask me to jump in and fill in for a show with their band. Thanks to my rockabilly friends in the Albany/Troy area Mark Gamsjager and the Luster Kings, Also the guys from Rocky Velvet, Graham Tichy, Ian Carlton, Jeff Michael, Jim Haggerty...... Thanks to Mike Murray and his Radio show Whole Lotta Shakin' for putting our music on the airwaves! Having to make a choice between family or Krypton 88 I would chose my family every time…Maybe I can find a train to take me back to where I belong…. A place where Robert Gordon, Ronnie Dawson, The Frantic Flattops, and Reverend Horton Heat would call home. That’s where I want to be…… So this is “big”Mike signing off from Krypton 88. “Upright Bass Slapped not Plucked”
